MUMBAI, India, April 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — In a bid to inculcate values related to climate change, gender equality and water conservation, VIBGYOR Group of Schools participated in Connecting Classrooms, an initiative by British Council. VIBGYOR High, Balewadi was selected to collaborate with Auchterhouse Primary School, Angus Council, Scotland, while VIBGYOR High Malad (East) was chosen to partner with Chapel St. Leonards Primary School, Lincolnshire, England. The initiative facilitates global exposure for VIBGYOR students on issues critical for the world, through carefully curated activities that are aligned with sustainable development goals identified by the British Council.

As part of the initiative, VIBGYOR is conducting various activities involving students from Grades 4 and 5, including ways to recycle green kitchen waste and plastic, tree planting, and Q&A sessions on the various sustainable development goals. The students of all the schools also held discussions to familiarise each other with their respective country’s culture and history, with questions flying fast and thick, demonstrating the enthusiasm of all the children for getting to know the outside world. Children were paired off in each collaboration to exchange letters and photographs showcasing their personal lives, festival celebrations, and other interesting information. By participating in this learning initiative, VIBGYOR Schools is promoting international collaboration among students while encouraging them to think and act as global citizens.

Talking about the CCGL initiative, Mrs. Kavita Sahay Kerawalla, Vice-Chairperson, VIBGYOR Group of Schools, said, “At VIBGYOR, we strongly believe that education plays an important role in building responsible global citizens of tomorrow. We are glad that we have been selected by international schools to provide our children with a global perspective, introducing them to different cultures and ideas, while also educating them on issues that will impact their future. These activities are a critical component of their development, providing them with a golden opportunity to learn, interact, and communicate with their peers from other parts of the world. We hope to expand our collaboration soon, and create more collaborative spaces for our students, as well for others from across the globe.”
