NMIMS MPSTME (Mumbai and Shirpur) Celebrates Convocation 2023, Upholds Academic Excellence

MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — SVKM’s NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) (Mumbai & Shirpur) celebrated Convocation 2023 in a grand ceremony. Several esteemed academic community members, distinguished guests, and proud parents joined in celebrating the momentous occasion. This two-day convocation ceremony recently took place on Friday and Saturday, August 18th and 19th, 2023, respectively, at the Mukesh R. Patel Auditorium at the NMIMS, Mumbai campus.
Dr. Krishnaswami Srihari, Dean of Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at State University of New York, Binghamton University, graced the occasion on 18th August as the Chief Guest, and Mr. D. Shivakumar, Operating Partner at Advent Global Private Equity, was the esteemed Chief Guest on the second day of the convocation, 19th August. The convocation ceremony was also graced by the presence of Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Nominee of the Chancellor, Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Alka Mahajan, Dean of MPSTME, adding an extra layer of significance to this already auspicious event.
At the convocation ceremony, held over two days, the MPSTME graduates of Mumbai and Shirpur campuses were conferred with their well-deserved degrees. 770 graduates and 9 PhD scholars from both campuses obtained their degrees during the ceremony. The event was a grand affair and symbolized the culmination of the graduating students’ hard work, dedication, and achievements.
With both days following the same agenda, the function commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, the rendering of the melodious strains of Saraswati Vandana, and an invocation. The academic procession then arrived at the venue, marking the commencement of the convocation ceremony. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as the NMIMS anthem set the tone.
The eager students walked the stage in an academic procession, showcasing their accomplishments and dedication to their cherished school. Degrees were conferred, and awards were announced, underlining the students’ exceptional achievements. Along with the conferment of degrees, students with exemplary ranks, scholarships, and innovative projects were honoured, and the best staff and faculty were recognized with special awards and applauded for their efforts. Dr. Alka Mahajan presented a thorough review of the 2022-23 academic year. 09 students from PhD, 773 from B Tech and BTI, 20 from M Tech, 55 from MCA, and 547 from MBA Tech were declared to have successfully completed the program.
Addressing the convocation and welcoming the honourable chief guests, Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro Vice Chancellor of NMIMS, said, “It is a proud moment for NMIMS and all the graduating students. I would like to acknowledge and appreciate all our students and their parents’ efforts over the years. We have seen the school grow in the last 15 years and make its mark in its domain. Congratulating the graduating students, Dr. Krishnaswami Srihari, Dean of Thomas J. In his speech, Mr. D. Shivakumar, Operating Partner at Advent Global Private Equity, raised some intriguing questions about the advantages and downsides of technology and said, “There is a perennial debate about the advantages and downsides of technology. I am a believer in technology. Having worked in the technology sector for over 10 years, I have recognized the downside of technology. My first truism is that no technology is bad; it becomes bad when misused or put in the wrong hands. At a basic level, technology leads to an increase in productivity and, hence, improvement in lifestyle. Every time a new technology comes into the picture, it faces opposition. As the world becomes more educated, one needs to be more insightful, education being the basis of it. A more educated society looks for innovation and technology, innovation being the key here.”
The convocation ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, sealing the moment of pride and accomplishment for all those present. The event encapsulated the essence of NMIMS University’s mission to nurture and empower the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
