SPPSPTM bags the first rank in the private schools in Maharashtra amongst other pharmacy colleges Youngest Deemed-to-be universities and pharmacy schools to achieve this milestone

MUMBAI, India, June 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — SVKM’s NMIMS Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School Of Pharmacy & Technology Management has maintained its 11th position among pharmacy colleges in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The ranking is based on several parameters, including research and professional practice, teaching, learning and resources, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

Dr. Jagannath Sahoo, the Dean of SPPSPTM, NMIMS University in Mumbai, expressed his satisfaction with the NIRF ranking. The National Institutional Ranking Framework, approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), was launched on September 29th, 2015. It provides a methodology to assess and rank educational institutions across the country.

Dr. Sahoo emphasised the significance of NIRF and the Ministry of Education rankings in helping students, parents, and stakeholders make informed decisions about higher education institutions. He highlighted the Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School Of Pharmacy & Technology Management’s focus on student-centric, outcome-based learning and research to produce employable and socially responsible graduates who meet the healthcare sector’s demands. Dr. Sahoo also praised the dedicated and highly qualified faculty for delivering contemporary content and conducting impactful research, ensuring quality education and contributing to the development of a skilled workforce in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

A total of 16 colleges from Maharashtra participated in the rankings, including prominent institutions such as the Institute of Chemical Technology, SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Poona College of Pharmacy Pune, Bombay College of Pharmacy, and many more.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors experienced significant disruptions. Consequently, the Indian government has prioritised these industries and introduced new policies and programs to enhance local access and affordability of quality healthcare. The Indian pharma industry has witnessed a compound annual growth rate of 11% in the domestic market. Projections indicate that between 2020 and 2030, the industry will grow at a compound annual rate of 12% and reach $130 billion by 2030.
